September 2007
As summer is quickly fading into fall the Youth Services Bureau is also experiencing some positive changes. September brought with it changes in our staff. At the end of August I was brought on board to replace Trisha Burton as the agency’s director when she decided to pursue other opportunities. We are all very happy for her and wish her the best of luck.
I am very excited and enthusiastic to join such an amazing organization. I come to you with a background in education and I also bring with me several years of experience in directing educational learning centers up and down the east coast. On a more personal note, I was born and raised in Brunswick, Maine. I graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Prior to moving back to Maine in 2006 I lived in Miami, Florida and in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. I moved to the White Mountain Region this summer and I love it!
The agency also welcomes another new face to our office. Jessica Ialuna is joining the team as the Program Coordinator for our Out of School Suspension Program. She comes to us with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in criminal justice. She also has experience working as a residential counselor as well as with local police departments. We are very excited to have her on board and think she will be an asset to our OSS program.
Amidst these changes I want to assure you that our mission and programs remain the same. Our goal continues to be to provide programs and services aimed at preventing juvenile delinquency and empowering youth. We are committed to being an advocate for today’s youth and we strive to improve the quality of life for children and youth-at-risk in the Lakes Region. If you have any questions about what we do or if you are in need of our services please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here for you.
