| A psycho-educational program, based on the Anger Control Training curriculum. This program will aim to help high school youth learn to deal with their anger in a healthy, non-destructive way.
Youth will learn to recognize the specific thoughts, feelings and behaviors that can intensify feelings of anger and lead to aggressive behavior. Once a young person has learned to be aware of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, he/she can acquire and use coping strategies to prevent or reduce his/her negative behavior. Coping strategies include challenging and replacing thoughts and modifying behavior. Once coping strategies are internalized and practice consistently, new, more adaptive forms of behaving emerge. General lifestyle changes can develop, resulting in an ability to think, and therefore act, more positively.
The program consists of an intake interview, 12 core sessions (varying in length from 2 to 3 hours), and an exit interview.
